Western Chan Fellowship Lineage

We practise in the Dharma Drum lineage of the late Chan Master Sheng Yen.

Dr John Crook Chuandeng Jingdi was our Founding Teacher. He received Dharma Transmission in both Caodong (Jap: Soto) and Linji (Jap: Rinzai) lineages from Chan Master Sheng Yen in 1993.

Dr Simon Child Jinghong Chuanfa is our current Guiding Teacher. He received Dharma Transmission in both Caodong (Jap: Soto) and Linji (Jap: Rinzai) lineages from Chan Master Sheng Yen in in 2000.

Simon Child has given Dharma Transmission twice:

  • to Fiona Nuttall in 2015, also conferring the lineages of both Caodong (Jap: Soto) and Linji (Jap: Rinzai).
  • to Rebecca Li in 2016, also conferring the lineages of both Caodong (Jap: Soto) and Linji (Jap: Rinzai).
