Other Groups

The following non-WCF Chan groups are known to us, and are listed here so that you may contact them if you wish.

Usually at least one of the group members is a member or supporter of the WCF, but maybe other group members follow Buddhist traditions other than Chan or Zen. These groups are independent of the WCF, though based on our mutual interest in Chan Buddhism we maintain friendly supportive links.

Chan Meditation London

Mid-Wales Buddhist-Quaker Sit

We meet approximately monthly, on a Saturday from 2.30 pm to 5.00 pm, in Trinity Church Schoolroom, Short Bridge Street, Llanidloes, Powys.

The format is: half hour meditation with short liturgy, 10 minute kin-hin walking meditation, half hour discussion on a pre-announced topic, and half hour Quaker silent meeting for worship.  Then chat over tea, coffee and biscuits.

Our aim is to promote Buddhist - Quaker dialogue and synergy to build on the mystical and experiential practices and values of both Chinese Chan Silent Illumination and British Quakerism.
