From 1st July 2017 Western Chan Fellowship, registered charity 1068637, is winding down its operations and passing its activities and assets to a new charity with a similar name and objects, Western Chan Fellowship CIO, registered charity number 1166162. If you have an outstanding retreat booking with Western Chan Fellowship then it has been transferred automatically to Western Chan Fellowship CIO, and if you are a member you will be advised later in the year how to transfer your membership and set up a new standing order for Western Chan Fellowship CIO.
This change allows us to operate under a more modern charity structure, the CIO or Charitable Incorporated Organisation. For those involved in our activities, whether members or not, these changes should be largely unnoticed as they affect only operations behind the scenes. The principal benefit of this change is that the charity trustees will no longer carry unlimited personal liability as has been the case with the previous structure which was an unincorporated association. We hope this will enable more talented people to be willing to be involved in supporting and developing the WCF into the future.
